Körmend is a small town of about 12,000 people in the far west of Hungary. It is well known for its massive Batthyány-Strattman Castle, a grand Baroque building with four corner towers.
The start and the finish of "Around Körmend" is in the lovely Castle Gardens with its many old trees and fine magnolias.
The event includes a 10k race (two laps), a 5k (one lap), and several children's races. The route is flat and fast and takes you around Körmend and through the Castle Gardens.
In 2009, the 10k winners were Árpád Garami (33:07) and Barbara Joó (45:00).
