Körbe Körmend ("Around Körmend") is a running event in Körmend, an old town of about 10,000 people, situated in western Hungary near the border with Austria.
The event offers several flat races for all levels of runners:
- 300m Óvodás futam for kindergarten children 3-6 years old
- 600m Iskolás futam for school children
- 3.1km for beginners and families
- 5.5km for hobby runners
- 10.5km for more experienced runners
Starting and finishing in front of the imposing Batthyány-Strattman-kastély (Batthyány-Strattman-Castle, pictured above) in the town centre, all three routes (3.1km, 5.5km and 10.5km) take the runners on mixed terrain (asphalt and gravel) around Szabadság tér (Freedom Square, Körmend's spacious main square), through residential areas, on a green dyke through the floodplain of the Raba river, and finally through the Castle Park with its many beautiful old trees.
The entry limit is 200 runners for the three main races combined.
