Trieste (Italy), Saturday 21 May 2016
Held on the edge of the Adriatic port of Trieste on the border between Italy and Slovenia, the Jamarun trail race is a terrific event.
The route is 15km long and immensely scenic. With 850m of ascent and 850m of descent it is also very challenging. Some sections of the course are very technical.
Starting at 3.30pm in the village of Bagnoli della Rosandra, the race takes the runners into the spectacular Val Rosandra gorge and up to the over-400m-high Karst Plateau.
Last year, 173 runners took part in the Jamarun. Alessandro Morassi was the fastest finisher (1:13:01). Daniela del Forno led the women across the line (1:26:30).
The entry limit is 300 runners. The time limit to complete the course is three hours.
