The Jamarun is a wonderful trail running race in the north-eastern corner of Italy — 13 kilometres long with 600 metres of ascent and 600 metres of descent.

The start and finish are on the main square of Bagnoli della Rosandra, a small village situated on the edge of the Adriatic port of Trieste, very close to the border with Slovenia.

Competitors run through the spectacular Val Rosandra gorge, up to the 400-metre high Karst Plateau, through a village in Slovenia, and then downhill to the finish.

Most of the race is on trails. A few short sections are on asphalt roads.

Last year, the Jamarun had 187 finishers. The race limit is 250 runners.
