"The Way of Knowledge" Half Marathon 2010

This half marathon in Hungary's beautiful capital city Budapest aims mainly at the university student and teacher community. The race is open to everyone, however, and many of the best Hungarian distance runners have taken part in the event.

The start and finish are at the campus of the prestigious Semmelweis University, Hungary's oldest medical school, which also offers courses in Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The university is highly popular with students from foreign countries, and many subjects are taught in English or German.

The race travels along the "Way of Knowledge" past several universities, colleges and academies on both sides of the River Danube.

Participants also pass the magnificent 268m-long Parliament Building, and as more than half of the race is out-and-back along the Danube they see it even twice.

Apart from the ramps leading up to the bridges across the Danube the route is flat and fast.

The event includes a 6km run, the "Academic Six".

In 2009, the winners were Albert Minczér (1:10:46) and Zsófia Kovács (1:20:44).
