Due to bad weather the event has been postponed from 16 May to 24 May 2010!

Located in Hungary's north-western corner, the Szigetköz is a 50km-long island bounded by two rivers - the Danube and the Mosoni-Duna (or Moson Danube).

The Szigetköz Minimaraton takes you on a 16km-loop into this flat area of fields, woods and wetlands, beloved by canoeists, fishermen, birdwatchers, horse riders and cyclists.

The event includes a 4k and a 16k race.

The start and finish are in Mosonmagyaróvár, a town of 30,000 inhabitants, just a few kilometres from the borders with Austria and Slovakia.

As for tourism, the town is highly popular for its thermal spa and for comparatively cheap dental treatment, but there's also a pleasant old town and a large castle founded in the 13th century.

Mosonmagyaróvár is easy to reach by rail as it's on the main Vienna-Budapest line.

In 2009, the winners of the 16km race were József Major (52:57) and Mónika Horváth (1:08:48)
