3rd Fužine Half Marathon "Three Lakes"

The village of Fužine, Croatia, is situated at an elevation of 730 metres in the mountainous region of Gorski Kotar, about 35 kilometres from the Adriatic port city of Rijeka.

Fužine is easy to reach as it's on the motorway and the railway line from Zagreb to Rijeka.

Located at the 7km-long Bajer Reservoir, Fužine is a popular tourist destination for Croats. Not many foreign visitors, however, make it to this densely forested and thinly populated area.

With less than 100 finishers the half marathon is a small race but due to a generous prize-fund many top runners from neighbouring countries have taken part in the event.

The start and the finish are in Fužine. The undulating route runs along two reservoirs and a small lake and across the beautiful green Ličko polje plain.

In 2009, the winners were Goran Stojiljković of Montenegro (1:09:59) and Ana Subotić of Serbia (1:25:53).
