Half Marathon of the 2 Provinces 2010
The flatness of the Friulian plain in the north-east of Italy combined with the mild winter temperatures near the Adriatic Sea allow you to run a fast half marathon in mid-January.
For the first time, the event also incorporates a 30k road race.
Starting in the village of Medea, the rural course takes the runners through fields and villages in the provinces of Gorizia and Udine.
Half marathoners finish in Medea, 30k runners go another lap of 8.9km.
Apart from a few bridges the route is flat and fast.
In 2009, the half marathon winners were Austria's Markus Hohenwarter (1:07:47) and local athlete Sara Bradaschia (1:24:50).
