This flat and fast 10k road race takes place in the Prater park in Austria's capital city Vienna. The route is traffic-free and AIMS-certified.

Competitors run two 3-kilometre loops and then out-and-back the Prater Hauptallee, the main avenue through the park, regularly used for road running events.

Held in early December, the Adventlauf gives you the opportunity to burn off some calories before indulging in ginger bread, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine on Vienna's famous Christmas market, which takes place in front of the decorated City Hall.

Last year, 232 runners from 12 countries took part in the event. The winners were Reinhard Rathgeb (33:50) and Carola Bendl-Tschiedel (40:29).
