16th Mountain Mini Marathon "Korita" 2010

Just about 30 kilometres from the busy coastal resort of Opatija, this small mountain running event in Croatia takes place in a remote corner of the Istrian peninsula.

With an elevation gain of 635 metres in 10 kilometres it's one of the easiest mountain running courses in the country.

The race starts off in the village of Lupoglav, near the Učka tunnel. You run on roads and trails, mostly through the forest. The finish is at the mountain hut "Korita", a lovely spot with beautiful views of inland Istria.

Juniors finish half-way in the village of Brgudac, where the awards ceremony will be held.

Unfortunately, the entry fees have been raised to a level way above the Croatian average.

In 2009, the winners were Sanja Begović-Geceg from Croatia (59:10) and Boštjan Hrovat from the alpine part of Slovenia (49:33).
