8th Lake Blaguš Race 2010
Blaguško jezero (SLO), Saturday 17 April 2010
Lake Blaguš is a lovely little reservoir, located in the rolling hills of eastern Slovenia.
The multi-terrain races held at the lake every year in April regularly attract a decent number of foreign athletes, not only due to the proximity to the borders with Austria, Croatia and Hungary.
The undulating 3km-route through woods and green fields is very pretty, mostly on grass and trails. Only a 500-metre-long uphill section runs along an asphalt road.
Women run two laps (6km) and men three laps (9km). Start is at 3pm but it's worth to come a bit earlier to watch and support the children fighting hard for the medals.
The event ends with a barbecue in the forest.
In 2009, Jože Čeh won the men's race in 29:37. Jožica Šiftar led the women home in 26:05.
