Held one week before the Vienna Marathon, the Frühlingslauf comprises a 7k race and a half marathon.
The races follow a 7-kilometre route through the vast Prater park in Austria's capital city. Half marathoners run three laps and an additional 97.5 metres.
The course, which is used in many other running events organized by the athletics club LCC Wien, is traffic-free, AIMS-certified and very flat and fast.
Each lap includes one turning point, however, as most of the route runs along an out-and-back section of the Prater Hauptallee, the 4km-long chestnut-tree-lined main artery through the park.
Start and finish is near the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Austria's largest football stadium with a seating capacity of 50,000.
