18th Pinkafeld Town Run 2010
Pinkafeld (Austria), 5 April 2010, Easter Monday
Marian column (Mariensäule) in Pinkafeld
Pinkafeld is a small town of 5,000 inhabitants, located amid the rolling hills of the Burgenland, Austria's easternmost province.
The Stadtlauf, which is held every year on Easter Monday, is most popular with children. Last year, 232 youngsters took part in the children's races, compared to 134 finishers in the 10k race.
Competitors in the 10k run four laps of a 2.5-kilometre course through Pinkafeld.
Over the years, many Hungarian athletes have made their appearance at the event. Hungarians also hold impressive course records. Zsolt Benedek ran 28:01 in the year 2001, and Eva Doczi finished in 31:37, way back in 1995.
In 2009, the winners were Hungary's Kustos Szabolcs (31:08) and Ingrid Eichberger of Austria (36:13).
