9th Rijeka Half Marathon 2010

The industrial city of Rijeka, Croatia's major port, hosts the largest running event on Croatia's coast. Last year, the half marathon had 263 finishers.

Start and finish is on Korzo, Rijeka's main pedestrian boulevard. The atmosphere on Korzo is good, and you can expect some live music as well. 

The out-and-back course runs westwards past high-rise suburbs and shipyards to the windsurfing resort of Preluk Bay. The route is undulating and close to the shore.

Although the race features some long ascents many runners have achieved good results in Rijeka. In 2009, the winners were Ashenafi Erkolo of Ethiopia (1:05:58) and Serbia's Ana Subotić (1:16:39).

The event includes a 3-person relay race (7k each) which is - according to the event website - for those who are "not in top shape". Shorter distances than the half marathon don't have much of a reputation in Croatia. The 5k race is for juniors only.

You get: pasta party (Saturday 18.00-20.00), finisher medal

Prizes: trophies to the first 3; prize money to the first 5 M/F and to the first 3 in each category (prizes are not cumulative)
