13th Half Marathon "Riviera of the Doges" 2010
This flat and fast half marathon near Venice, Italy, runs along the Brenta Canal, also called the "Riviera of the Doges" as it was a popular summer refuge for the Doges and the Venetian aristocracy. You won't find such a profusion of Venetian villas anywhere else outside of Venice.
Start and finish are at the western end of the canal in the small town of Stra, home of the outstanding Villa Pisani.
The race travels along the northern bank of the Brenta towards the Venetian lagoon. You cross the canal in the town of Mira, and then run along the southern bank home to Stra.
In 2009, more than 1000 runners finished the half marathon. The winners were Rached Amor of Tunisia (1:04:00) and Venetian athlete Alessandra de Zoppi (1:24:18).
