Sljeme Mountain Race

In this 13.4km mountain race with an overall climb of 912 metres you will start on Zagreb's main square, Trg bana Jelačića, and run up to Sljeme (1033m), the highest peak of the densely forested Mount Medvednica.

For the first 6km you will run on well-marshalled roads mildly uphill to the northern edge of the city. Once you reach the foot of the mountain, the route becomes steeper but you will run on nice shady trails through lovely forests. You are well advised to reserve some energy for the last bit to the top as this is the most demanding.

In 2008, the first on top of Sljeme were Danijela Černić (1:13:28) and Ivica Škopac (1:01:40).
