5th Kokoš Mountain Race
This mountain running event is held on the Slovenia-Italia border, approximately fifteen kilometres from the city centre of the Adriatic port of Trieste.
The start is at the border crossing near the famous stud farm of Lipica, which is home to many elegant Lipizzaner horses.
The 3.2km (two miles) route follows a dirt road which climbs 274 metres from start to finish. The finish line is at the mountain hut on Kokoš (674m) where all runners will be served a warm meal.
In 2008, the winners were Marco Moretton of Italy (0:13:40) and Vanja Krapež of Slovenia (0:17:23).
