The Bertlicher Straßenläufe ("Bertlich Road Races") are held three times per year in Herten, a former mining town in the green northern part of the industrial Ruhrgebiet (Ruhr region) in Germany's state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Each event offers a plethora of races, all starting and finishing at the athletics track in Bertlich, a district of Herten:

  • 850m for children
  • 5km
  • 7.5km
  • 10km
  • 15km
  • 21.1km half marathon
  • 30km
  • 42.2km marathon

The route runs on more-or-less flat roads through agricultural land. The course has been accurately measured.

The half marathon is two laps, the 30k race is three laps and the full marathon is also three laps. The time limit to finish the marathon is five hours.
