Previosly known as Halbmarathon Leipzig, this running event in Germany's state of Sachsen (Saxony) offers a half marathon, a 10k race and a kids run.
All races begin and end at the 91-metre-high Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument to the Battle of the Nations), one of Europe's biggest monuments, located about four kilometres south-east of the city centre of Leipzig.
The half marathon route loops through the southern outskirts of Leipzig and through rural areas where a coalition of Russian, Prussian, Austrian and Swedish armies defeated Napoleon in a fierce battle in October 1813.
The course is mainly flat.
