The Půlmaratón Český les is a multi-terrain running event held in the Český les (Upper Palatine Forest; German: Oberpfälzer Wald), a mountain range that stretches along the border between the Czech Republic and Germany.
Formerly known as Česko-německý půlmaratón ('Czech-German Half Marathon'), the event offers a 21km půlmaratón (half marathon), a 7km run and two races for children.
All races begin and end in Nemanice, a little village situated three kilometres from the nearest border crossing with Germany.
The half marathon features a challenging route (520 metres of ascent) which takes the runners through lovely countryside passing several abandoned villages that were demolished after World War Two as the authorities deemed them too close to the Iron Curtain.
The 7km route includes 80 metres of ascent.
