The Krajský půlmaraton (or ‘Půlmaraton Plzeňského kraje’) is a road running event held each spring in the Plzeňský kraj (Pilsen Region) in the Czech Republic.
It offers several distance options:
- 21.1km půlmaraton (half marathon)
- 9.59km desítka (‘10k race’)
- 5.85km pětka (‘5k race’)
- 3 x 5.85km týmový běh (team run)
- 100m-200m-400m-600m-800m dětský běh (kids' run)
The start and the finish are at the Škodaland sports complex which is situated at a reservoir in the southern part of Plzeň (Pilsen), the city where Emil Škoda founded the Škoda Works in 1859. Plzeň is also well known for its outstanding Pilsner beer.
The half marathon route takes the runners through rural areas and villages between Plzeň and the town of Dobřany in the Okres Plzeň-jih (Plzeň-South District).
Be prepared for a challenging run! The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is almost 100 metres. Overall, the race features more than 300 metres of ascent.
The course has been accurately measured and certified by ČAS, the Czech Athletics Federation. It will be closed to traffic for the time of the race.
