The Međunarodna atletska utrka grada Koprivnice (‘International Athletic Race of the Town of Koprivnica’) is held annually in November in Koprivnica, an old town of about 24,000 people, situated in northern Croatia near the border with Hungary.
With up to 1,000 participants, most of them children, it is one of the biggest running events in the region north of Zagreb.
Five race distances are available.
- 100 metres for children (point-to-point run)
- 600 metres for children (one lap)
- 1,100 metres for children and juniors (one lap)
- 3,400 metres for women (three laps)
- 5,700 metres for men (five laps)
Starting on the spacious main square, Zrinski trg (Zrinski Square; pictured above), competitors run through the town centre and through the lovely Gradski park (Town Park):
