The Špačinský trojuholník ("Špačince Triangle") is a 10k road race that follows an undulating triangle-shaped course through an agricultural area in the Trnava Region in Slovakia.
Held every year since 1978, and always on the same course, it's a prestigious running event. Over the last 39 years, runners from many different countries have taken part in the race.
Starting in the village of Špačince, the first part of the race is run on the main road towards the city of Trnava. The course is marshalled but it's not closed to traffic. There's much less traffic once you have turned left towards Malženice, and the last part of the course is very quiet.
Last year, 105 runners crossed the finish line at the football pitch in Špačince. In consideration of the high temperatures, many athletes produced very fine results. The fastest finishers were Marek Hladik of Slovakia (35 minutes 47 seconds) and Adéla Esentierová of the Czech Republic (42 minutes 27 seconds).
This video gives you an idea of what to expect in Špačince.
