The Zimní Běh na Blaník is a very challenging 21.1km multi-terrain half marathon race that is held annually in mid-winter in the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic.
From start to finish, the route features around 600 metres of ascent and 600 metres of descent.
The race begins at an elevation of 344 metres at the castle of Vlašim, an old town of about 12,000 inhabitants, situated approximately 60km to the south-east of Prague.
The route runs through the English-style castle park and then on roads (which are not closed to traffic) and trails to the observation tower on the summit of Velký Blaník (638m), a wooded hill that is steeped in legends.
From there, the race is mainly downhill back to the castle in Vlašim.
In 2016, the fastest finishers were Jiří Souček (1:25:34) and Radka Churaňová (1:38:17).
