Vienna (Austria), Sunday 9 April 2017
Organized by the LCC Wien, an athletics club based in Austria's capital Vienna, the Frühlingsmarathon (Spring Marathon) features a completely flat, very fast and AIMS-certified course that offers a fine opportunity to set a personal best time over the marathon distance.
The Frühlingsmarathon also features a 7k race, a half marathon, a half marathon relay for teams of three runners, and a marathon relay for teams of six.
The route is a 7,032.5metre-long loop through Vienna's largest public park, the Prater, which is home to various sports venues, as well as to the "Wurstelprater" amusement park with its famous Ferris Wheel (pictured).
Participants in the half marathon run three laps of this course. The marathon is six laps. The time limit to complete the course is four and a half hours.
Last year, the event took place two weeks after the Vienna City Marathon, a massive event that attracts a crowd of more than 30,000 runners every year.
The Frühlingsmarathon drew about 300 participants. This year, it will be held two weeks before the Vienna City Marathon.
