Organized by the 100 Marathon Club Deutschland, the Öjendorfer See Marathon is held seven times this year.

The event takes place in Hamburg-Öjendorf on the eastern edge of Hamburg, Germany's second-largest city.

On average, each event attracts approximately 100 participants, some of them highly experienced runners. You may meet athletes who have completed well over one thousand marathons!

The route is a 3,776-metre loop on hard-packed gravel paths around the Öjendorfer See, a very pretty lake surrounded by woods and parkland.

Entrants can choose to run 11.33km (three laps), 22.66km (six laps) or the 42.2km marathon (eleven laps plus 660m in the first lap).

The entry fees are very low — between eight and fifteen euros.

The time limit to complete the course is six hours.
