The Lübeck Marathon is held on an undulating out-and-back course between the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and the Baltic seaport of Lübeck-Travemünde.

Last year, approximately 3,100 runners took part in the event. These races are available:

All races start on Markt, the main square in the medieval Old Town.

The full marathon takes the runners around the Holstentor (Lübeck's number one landmark, pictured above), through the historic town centre, and then through residential and green areas. The turnaround point is on Travemünde's Strandpromenade (pictured below).

Both the half and the full marathon routes run (in both directions) through the 866m-long Herrentunnel under the River Trave.
