The Stadtlauf Nürnberg takes place on the Tag der Deutschen Einheit (Day of German Unity), Germany's national day, celebrated on October 3rd to commemorate the anniversary of German reunification.

Held in Nürnberg (Nuremberg), an old and historically important city of half a million people, the Stadtlauf is the largest running event in the Franconia region in northern Bavaria.

Last year, almost 6,000 runners took part in these three races:

The majority of the finishers in the 6km race are runners, but the race is also open to walkers and nordic walkers.

The Halbmarathon (half marathon) is two laps of a mainly flat course that runs through the city centre, through parkland, and around the Wöhrder See, a reservoir in the eastern part of Nuremberg:

Instead of a bib number, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race.

Venue (Map): Nuremberg (Munich 168km, Frankfurt 224km, Prague 300km, Berlin 436km)

Date: 3 October 2016 (Monday, Day of German Unity, public holiday in Germany)

Race distance: 600m-1.7km (children's races), 6km (run, walking, nordic walking), 10km, 21.1km

Start time: 10.00 (6km), 11.30 (10km), 11.40 (600m), 13.30 (21.1km), 13.40 (1.7km)

Start and finish: at the Opera House (Opernhaus) on Frauentorgraben

Entries: online (up to 2 October 2016), late entries on the day (8.00-10.00)

Entry limit: 1,200 runners (children's races), 10,500 runners (6km+10km+21.1km)

Entry fees (children's races): no entry fees (no chip timing, finisher medal to all children)

Entry fees (6km, 10km, 21.1km): € 24 (up to 30 June 2016); € 29 (up to 3 October 2016)

You get: technical T-shirt, finisher medal, finisher photo, refreshments on the course and at the finish, changing facilities, bag storage
