The Polumaraton Ivan Starek is held on an accurately-measured, traffic-free and utterly-flat course around Lake Jarun, which is situated in the south-western part of Croatia's capital Zagreb.

It offers a great opportunity to set a personal record over the half marathon distance. The event also offers a 5k and a 10k race.

Created for the Summer Universiade 1987, Jarun is home to a rowing regatta course, sports facilities, shingle beaches, cafés and bars.

Starting and finishing at the rowing club, the race is run on the road that encircles the lake. The half marathon is three laps around the lake. The first lap includes a detour to the ‘Island of the Croatian Youth’ (Otok Hrvatske mladeži).

Last year, Danijel Fak (1:09:32) and Matea Matošević (1:17:38) led a field of more than 400 half marathon runners across the finish line. The time limit to complete the course is two hours thirty minutes.
