Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary), Sunday 22 May 2016

Held in the town of Mosonmagyaróvár in the north-western corner of Hungary, near the borders with Austria and Slovakia, the Szigetköz Minimaraton attracts a field of more than 700 runners.

The event comprises a 300m fun run and two road races:

• 4km Dunamenti kör
• 16km Minimaraton

The 16km race takes the runners through agricultural areas and villages on the Szigetköz, a flat 50km-long tract of land that is bounded by two rivers, the Duna (Danube) and the Mosoni Duna (Moson-Danube).

Participants in the 4km race run through residential areas and along the Mosoni Duna.

In 2015, the fastest finishers in the 16km Minimaraton were the Hungarian elite runners Tamás Kovács (50min 22sec) and Anikó Kálovics (1hr 1min 1sec).
