Castions di Strada (Italy), Sunday 8 May 2016

Held in the village of Castions di Strada, which sits on the vast Friulian Plain in the north-east of Italy, the Cjasteons al Cjamine attracts around 600 runners and hikers.

Participants can choose between four very flat routes—7km, 12km, 21km or 30km. All routes are on mixed terrain, mainly on gravel roads, with a bit of asphalt and trails.

As the Cjasteons al Cjamine is a non-competitive event without timekeeping, there's no point in racing hard or even trying to break personal records.

Most participants take it as a training run (or walk) and enjoy the scenic course through agricultural areas, vineyards and woods—and the fine views of the Alps in the distance.

You can expect many feed stations and friendly helpers along the course, and hungry carnivorous finishers can order some coniglio (rabbit) at the Sagre dal Cunin (Rabbit Festival) which will be held between the 23rd of April and the 8th of May 2016 in the village.
