More than 600 runners took part in last year's Kaiserdomlauf in Bamberg, an old university city of about 70,000 people in the Upper Franconia region in Bavaria, Germany.

The event offers a 2.5k run for children, a 5k race, and a 10k.

The 5k is two laps and the 10k is four laps of a flat, fast and certified course through the district of Gaustadt which is home to the Brauerei Kaiserdom, the largest of Bamberg's many breweries.

The start/finish area is about two kilometres to the north-west of the Kaiserdom, a magnificent 13th-century cathedral that stands on a hill above the well-preserved and beautiful old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In 2015, the fastest finishers in the 10k race were Felix Hentschel (30min 57sec) and Susanne Lutz (38min 22sec).
