71st Brno Luzanky Run 2016
Brno (Czech Republic), Saturday 19 March 2016
An international crowd of more than 1,000 runners is expected to take part in the 71st edition of the Běh Lužánkami, which has been held annually since 1946 in Brno, the Czech Republic's second-largest city.
Women run four laps (6.4km), and men run five laps (8km) of a 1.6km-long course through Lužánky, the oldest urban public park in the country, and home to a wide variety of domestic and exotic trees.
In order to avoid overcrowding on the course, the men's and the women's races will be started in two heats. The finishing times will be merged into one set of results.
Over the years, the event has attracted a large number of strong distance runners. In 2015, Hillary Kiptum Kimaiyo of Kenya won the men's race in a time of 22min 36sec — a new course record. Zita Kácser of Hungary also set a course record in the women's race in 22min 2sec.
