Adorgnano di Tricesimo (Italy), Sunday 7 February 2016
Although it was a very rainy day, more than 600 runners and hikers turned out for the ninth edition of the Camminando in Compagnia.
‘Walking in Company’ is not a race. It's a non-competitive amateur sports event without timekeeping, held anually in the village of Adorgnano di Tricesimo near the city of Udine in the north-east of Italy.
Usually, participants can choose between three routes (7km, 13km and 19km).
This year, because of the rain, only two routes were on offer (7km and 10km).
Both routes were undulating to hilly and highly scenic as they took the runners on mixed terrain (asphalt, gravel, trails) through vineyards, farmland, woods and villages, passing several fine villas and a castello medioevale.
The course was very well marked and marshalled.
A fine selection of snacks, fruit and drinks was available at the aid stations, and all participants were served a minestrone soup after the run.
The entry fees were very low — €3 for entries on the day of the event.
