Ostrava (Czech Republic), Saturday 3 December 2016
The Christmas Night Run in the city of Ostrava is the first of a series of three races that will be held in December 2016 in the Czech Republic.
The second event will be staged on 10 December in Hradec Králové, the third event on 17 December in Praha (Prague).
Each Christmas Night Run is 5km long.
Participants must wear a headlamp during the race.
Starting at 5pm at the Nová radnice, which features the tallest town hall tower in the country (pictured above), the race in Ostrava follows a scenic loop course on cycleways and footpaths through the Komenského sady, a 1.8km-long public park that stretches along the River Ostravice:
The route passes the impressive Památník Rudé Armády (Red Army Memorial) ...
... as well as the tennis courts where Ivan Lendl played as a youth before becoming one of the greatest tennis players of all times.
