Malente (Germany), Sunday 14 August 2016
Participants in the Diekseelauf run 11.5km of an undulating and very scenic multi-terrain course around the Dieksee, the fourth-largest of about 200 lakes in the Holsteinische Schweiz lakeland region in northern Germany.
Starting and finishing on the lakeside promenade in the resort of Malente, the route is a mix of roads and trails through lovely woods and rolling countryside and through the very pretty village of Timmdorf.
The event also offers a 5km run and a 1.2km children's race. Both races take the runners out and back along the lake's southern shore.
