Mörbisch am See (Austria), Saturday 30 April 2016
The Mörbischer Lauftag (‘Mörbisch Running Day’) is staged in a lovely location on the western shore of the Neusiedler See (Hungarian: Fertő), a 36km-long and very shallow lake that is shared by Austria and Hungary. The lake is to a large extent surrounded by reed beds.
All races (children's races, 5km and half marathon) begin and end in the picturesque village of Mörbisch am See which sits on the border with Hungary.
The 5k race is six laps of a flat 833m-long loop course through the village.
Participants in the half marathon run four laps through vineyards close to the shore of the lake. The route is flat and fast as well. Each lap features 5m of ascent.
The event also offers bicycle time trial races on Saturday afternoon and a 125km Radmarathon (bicycle marathon) around Lake Neusiedl on Sunday morning.
