The Lübeck Marathon is held on an undulating out-and-back course between the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and the Baltic seaport of Lübeck-Travemünde.

Last year, approximately 2,800 runners took part in the following races:

Starting and finishing on Markt, the main square of Lübeck's medieval Old Town, the marathon route runs around the Holstentor (pictured above) and through the historic town centre, and then through residential and green areas.

The turning point is on Travemünde's Strandpromenade (pictured below).

Participants in the marathon and in the half marathon run (in both directions) through the 866m-long Herrentunnel under the River Trave.
