Regensburg (Germany), Sunday 17 May 2015
Held in the venerable old city of Regensburg in the Free State of Bavaria in Germany, this popular running event offers a 10.5km quarter marathon, a 21.1km half marathon, and a 42.2km marathon which consists of two laps of the half marathon course.
In 2014, more than 3900 runners finished one of the three races. The marathon winners were Frank Merwerth (2:34:16) and Elke Brenner (2:57:39).
The time limit to complete the course is 5hr 30min.
Starting and finishing at the Donaupark in the western part of the city, all three races feature a mostly flat loop course which passes a great number of outstanding buildings in the medieval Old Town — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some sections in the historic city centre are run on cobbles.
The 21km route also includes a loop on a 1.3km-long systems test course for test vehicles, located on the eastern edge of the city.
