Held on a Friday night in June, the Ossiacher See Nachthalbmarathon in Austria's state of Kärnten (Carinthia) attracts approximately 500 or more competitors, many of them holidaymakers and day trippers from neighbouring countries.

The event features children's races, a 6.3km race for runners and nordic walkers, and a half marathon.

Participants in the half marathon run 21.1km of an undulating point-to-point course on roads and cycleways around the western part of the 10km-long Lake Ossiach.

The route alternates in direction each year. In 2015, competitors will run from Ossiach on the southern shore to Bodensdorf on the northern shore. Pre-race ferry transportation from Bodensdorf to the start area is included in the entry fees.

In 2014, Michael Wadl (1:14:34) and Elisabeth Starz (1:31:50) led an international field of about 300 half marathon runners around the lake.
