29th ‘Kostanjevica Run’ 2014
Kostanjevica na Krki (Slovenia), Sunday 14 September 2014
The Kostanjeviški tek forms part of the Dolenjski Pokal 2014, a series of 19 running events, held between April and October in the lovely Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) region in Slovenia.
Participants run 9km of a challenging multi-terrain course which includes about 120m of ascent (and the same of descent). Approximately 5.7km of the course are run on asphalt roads, 2.5km on gravel roads, and 800m on trails.
The race begins and ends at the primary school of Kostanjevica na Krki, Dolenjska's smallest town with just about 750 inhabitants, and also the oldest one in the region, founded in the 13th century on an island in the River Krka (pictured).
