Held since 1924, the Košice Peace Marathon is Europe's oldest marathon race.
Last year, more than 1500 runners took part in the 90th edition of the marathon, and around 2200 completed the half marathon.
The marathon is two laps of a certified, traffic-free, and mostly flat and fast course through Košice, a pleasant and lively city of 240,000 people in eastern Slovakia.
Starting and finishing at the ‘Hotel Doubletree by Hilton’ (pictured) on the edge of the historic town centre, the route runs across Košice's delightful main square, through the Old Town, and through residential areas in the northern and southern parts of the city.
The event also features a marathon relay race for teams of four runners, a 4.2km fun run, as well as inline skating and wheelchair races.
