19th Ljubljana Marathon 2014
Ljubljana (Slovenia), Sunday 26 October 2014
The Ljubljanski maraton attracts around 12,000 runners — a huge number for any city but in particular for Slovenia's capital Ljubljana, which is home to just about 285,000 people.
The event offers a 10k race (ca. 4,300 finishers last year), a half marathon (6,200 finishers), and a marathon (1,200 finishers).
Until last year, the 42.2km marathon was a two-lap race. In 2014, the race will feature a new course which loops around the whole city.
The new route will be, like before, mostly flat and fast, starting and finishing at the magnificent Congress Square in the city centre.
Participants in the full marathon need to be aware that the time limit to complete the first half of the course is 2 hours 15 minutes.
