There's plenty of "Barock und Natur" to enjoy along the marathon route through Dresden, grand capital of the state of Saxony in eastern Germany.

Starting and finishing on the edge of the historic city centre, the 42.2km marathon consists of two laps of a gently undulating and certified course which takes the runners along both banks of the River Elbe, through the beautiful public park of ‘Großer Garten’, and past innumerable impressive buildings.

Most of the race is run on asphalt. Some short sections are on cobbles or on gravel.

The time limit to complete the marathon course is 5hr 30min.

In addition to the full marathon, the event offers a half marathon, a 10k race, and a 4.2km run. Last year, almost 8000 runners finished one of the four races.
