Gonars (Italy), Sunday 9 March 2014
The Cjaminade fra Amîs is a non-competitive fun run that attracts up to 2000 runners and hikers every year.
Held in the village of Gonars in the Friuli area in the north-east of Italy, the event offers four very flat routes — 6km, 12km, 21km, and 30km long.
Participants run (or walk) on mixed terrain through farmland, vineyards and villages on the vast Bassa Friulana Plain.
Along the course, there are plenty of aid stations, some of them offering local delicacies like ′musetto′ (a type of spiced pork sausage) and wine.
The entry fees are very low (€3 on the day), and after the run there's plenty of food and drinks available at very reasonable prices.
