Vienna (Austria) — 26 January, 23 February, and 23 March 2014
Organized by the athletics club LCC Wien, the annual Eisbärlauf ("Polar Bear Run") race series comprises three running events in January, February and March.
Each event offers a 7k, a 14k, and a half marathon. The events in February and March also include a 28k race.
The route is a 7-kilometre loop on asphalt roads through the Wiener Prater — formerly imperial hunting grounds, nowadays Vienna's largest public park.
Starting and finishing near Austria's biggest stadium, the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, the race is run mostly on the Prater Hauptallee, a wide avenue through the park.
The course is traffic-free, AIMS-certified, and pancake-flat.
In 2013, each Eisbärlauf event welcomed an average of about 650 participants.
