Bad Füssing (Germany), Sunday 2 February 2014
Held every year in early February, the Johannesbad Thermen-Marathon draws around 1500 runners to the spa village of Bad Füssing which is situated in a low-lying region in Germany's state of Bavaria, near the border with Austria.
The event offers a 1.8km children's run, a 10km race, a 21.1km half marathon, and a 42.2km marathon. The full marathon is two laps of a flat and fast course through farmland and small villages with onion-domed church steeples.
All races start and finish at the Johannesbad-Therme, one of Europe's largest thermal spas. The registration fees (€ 26 for advance entries) include free access to the thermal pools on Saturday and on Sunday!
