Blossoming apple orchards and snow-capped 3000-metre mountain peaks provide a superb backdrop for this popular half marathon in South Tyrol, an autonomous alpine province in the far north of Italy where German is the predominant language.

Approximately 1400 runners took part in the race last year.

The route begins and ends in the spa town of Meran (Italian: Merano) which is well known for its mild climate and lush Mediterranean vegetation.

Participants run three laps of a gently-undulating course — at first a 4km loop through Meran and then two loops (ca. 8.5km each) through the orchards between Meran and the pretty Tyrolean village of Algund (Italian: Lagundo).

The event also offers a 4.2km fun run, the ‘Run4Fun’.
