Around 6,000 runners took part in the 2013 edition of the half marathon in Poznań, a dynamic and prosperous city of more than half a million people in western Poland.
Poznań is not only an important trade centre on the rail line between Berlin and Warsaw, the city is also well known for its vibrant arts and culture scene.
The half marathon begins and ends at the eastern end of Lake Malta, a popular recreational area situated about four kilometres east of the historic quarter.
The route is a rather flat and fast loop through residential and green areas in the eastern and southern parts of the city.
The time limit to complete the race is three hours.
