Štrbské Pleso (Slovakia), Sunday 8 September 2013
Like the Tatry Running Tour, the Pavol Antal Memorial is held on the trails of the High Tatras, a stunningly beautiful mountain range on the Slovakia-Poland border.
Participants run 8km of a point-to-point uphill course that includes 250m of ascent.
The race begins with a loop around Štrbské pleso, a glacial lake in the resort of Štrbské Pleso, which is situated at 1350m above sea level in the Tatra National Park.
The finishing line is at Popradské pleso (pictured), a smaller glacial lake that sits at an elevation of about 1500m.
Held annually since 1995 in commemoration of the Slovak sportsman Pavol Antal, the event has attracted elite and fun runners from many different countries.
